 What Do We Believe?

STATEMENT OF FUNDAMENTAL TRUTHS The "Statement of Fundamental Truths" contains the 16 doctrines of the Assemblies of God. These are non-negotiable tenets of faith that all Assemblies of God churches adhere to. Four of these, Salvation, the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, Divine Healing, and the Second Coming of Christ are considered Cardinal Doctrines which are essential to the church's core mission of reaching the world for Christ.

 Why Visit FCC?

We believe church has three purposes: (1) to introduce the lost to Christ; (2) to provide an environment for worshiping God and fellowshiping with others who hold similar values and love for God; and (3) to effectively train and nurture believers.

If we as Christians are to maintain our walk with God, we must submit ourselves to His Word and godly examples firmly rooted in the faith. These goals can best be accomplished through a warm and caring body of believers such as Faith Christian Centre.

If you don't have a church home, we invite you to join us this Sunday as we worship Him in Spirit and truth.

Hebrews 10:23-25
Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.

1 Thessalonians 5:11
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

 Who Are We?

FCC: Past and Present

Faith Christian Centre in Washington, IL, began as Faith Centre in November 1976 under the direction of Reverend James Wiseman. The congregation at that time was comprised of approximately forty people. This nucleus of people first met in a rented building in Robein, IL. In 1977, the body moved into a building on Center Street in East Peoria, which they purchased from another local church. Brother Wiseman resigned in late 1977 to work with Charles and Francis Hunter Ministries.

Brother N. Duane Arnold pastored the congregation from January 1978 until mid 1983. It was during this time the name was changed to Faith Christian Centre of Greater Peoria. The congregation grew to around 300 with 2 services each Sunday morning packed wall-to-wall. After selling the Center Street building, the people met in the rented gym of Lincoln School in East Peoria. In 1980, ground was purchased at the present location of 2354 Hollands Grove Road in Washington. The actual building was started in 1981. In 1983, after Brother Arnold's resignation, the congregation accepted an offer of financial assistance from the Assemblies of God. In January 1984, Reverend Paul Martin was called to shepherd the FCC flock. He remained Pastor until 1992.

For a period of approximately one year the people of FCC were without a pastor. In August of 1993, John King came from the United Kingdom to assume the pastorate. He formerly pastored Calvary Christian Centre in England for 14 years with nearly 300 attendees. Pastor King ministered at FCC until August 2000.

God has established other ministries as extensions of FCC over the years. In 1989, the Peoria Outreach was an added and viable ministry. The Peoria Outreach is an inner city outpost of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Peoria. In 1996, Maranatha Fellowship was started. This ministry is an inner city outreach to the South Side of Peoria.

Faith Christian Centre is a very mission minded church with various annual missions trips and dozens of missionaries being supported monthly. Members are encouraged to catch the vision for world missions and to take an active part.

God continued to bless Faith Christian Centre as our numbers grew to over 1100 in attendance weekly. In August of 2000, Pastor King felt God calling him to plant a daughter church in the city of Peoria with about 400 attenders from FCC. Pastor Rick Brisbin then became the Senior Pastor of Faith Christian Centre, after serving as Senior Associate for the previous 4 years.

Currently, Faith Christian Centre is committed to our mission of Reaching and Teaching People to Become Fully Devoted Followers of Christ. It is our desire to impact our world locally, regionally, and globally with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
